Tunisia claimed the 2021 championships after seeing off Ivory Coast 78-75 in the final played in Kigali, Rwanda on 6 September 2021.
Kenya, who successfully made it through to last edition’s finals, will hope that a repeat of their qualifiers in November 2020 and February 2021 will be the case next year, as they seek a fifth appearance in the 16-team tournament.
Kenya finished 2-4 in the 2021 Afrobasket Qualifiers by securing wins over Mozambique and Angola - a memorable 74-73 victory - to finish third in Group B, securing a ticket to the finals for the first time in 28 years.
In Kigali, Morans, then led by former head coach Liz Mills, got only one win - a 72-66 victory over Mali - and ultimately got bounced in the Quarter Finals Qualifying stage thanks to a 60-58 loss to South Sudan.
Kenya’s path, as of those in Groups D and B, will begin in February, with Groups C and A battling it out in November that year.
